Aidan Baker - Figures and news on the horizon
Written by Volubilis

Aidan Baker - FiguresThe remastered version of Figures with bonus tracks is here. Two tracks specifically for this release have been added: Disgfigured (pilotgram remix) and Figures (live). Making twenty more minutes of music added on to this release. Figures is my favorite record from Aidan and one of the main reasons I started a label. It's closest companions would be on the slow core side of bedhead and low. A precursor to green and cold with violin, cello, guitar and several other instruments thrown into the mix.
[More about Figures]

Aidan Baker - Broken & RemadeThe new album from Aidan Baker is finally here and is ready to order!
[More Info]

Now about the good stuff. This new record is quite a step forward for Aidan Baker and his myriad of releases. Think Round about midinight melded with the warp records jazz style and your getting close. Beautiful, hypnotic and totally unlike his previous work in either Nadja or Arc. This is the four panel digipack edition and is limited to 1,000 copies. This is not a cdr release.

Broken Baker

Just wanted to update what will be on the horizon for our new label Volubilis. Aidan Baker (Nadja) is the first and foremost to join us with a new album and a series of reissues. The first album to be released is Broken and Remade (New Album). Wow. Utterly unlike anything he had done before. Broken has way more akin with Davis Kind of blue era smashing heads with Autechre then most will know him for his dense drones. The drone remnants are still in place but are now fueled with a hard bop spike to the proceedings.
All the reissues and the broken will be pressed in an edition of a 1,000 copies in gorgeous (hopefully) four panel digipacks. The first reissue will be his understated "Figures" album. Think Low in the sack with Bedhead. He has remastered it specifically for this release and will contain a fifteen minuted bonus live version of the track "figures".
Will have an official website up very soon (hopefully by the end of the week.) So check back as I will have many updates and some mp3's to tie you over till the albums are out. Much more news too early to discuss but some great albums on the horizon..

Yellow Swans/Devillock Split Seven Inch
Written by Derek

Yellow Swans are an idea a piece of art that pushes not only music, but a concept. Where more and more supposed "noise bands" are putting out shitty tapes and cdrs that amount to miking a tape recorder from the inside and pressing play. Yellow Swans are learning a word more bands should well listen to and its space.
Where earlier pieces were obscured in more violent and raw tendencies . Newer Yellow Swans releases or compilations like Live during war crimes Vol. 2 and Global clones have been pushing into drone and more sublime territory.
This seven inch released by the fine label modern radio record label is defenitely the former. Starting off with a tone and turning into a somewhat denser wall of sound this piece has every part of them into one six minute song. Devillock also follow this shift amazingly well into one very beautiful and ambient piece. Seemingly made up of one shifting note that wanes thru a slow organic rumble beneath.

A start of sorts...
